Buying and Selling Safely

What BusOva does, and does not do

BusOva provides a place for enthusiasts to advertise items to one another. We introduce buyers and sellers, and nothing more.

• We are not party to any sale and take no commission.
• We do not handle payments, hold funds, or offer escrow.
• We do not inspect, verify or guarantee any item, its description, its condition, its ownership or its roadworthiness.
• We cannot arbitrate disputes or arrange refunds. Any agreement is between the buyer and the seller directly.

If you are buying

• See it in person where you can. This matters most for vehicles and large parts. Photographs hide a great deal.
• Never pay in advance for something you have not seen, particularly by bank transfer, which offers you very little protection.
• Ask questions through BusOva messages. Keeping the conversation on the site means there is a record if something goes wrong.
• Be wary of pressure. A seller rushing you, refusing a viewing, or asking you to move to another platform is a warning sign.
• For vehicles, check the paperwork. V5C, MOT history, service records and, where relevant, plating and PSV documentation. Confirm the seller is entitled to sell the vehicle.
• Get a receipt recording what was sold, for how much, and the condition it was sold in.

If you are selling

• Describe items honestly, including faults. Clear photos of the bad bits build far more trust than hiding them.
• Only list what you own and are entitled to sell.
• Keep contact on the site until you are comfortable.
• Confirm payment has genuinely cleared before the item leaves your hands. Screenshots of a transfer are not proof of payment.
• If you are selling as a business, you have additional legal obligations to consumers. Please say so in your listing.
• Mark items as sold when they go, so buyers are not contacting you about something that has already gone.

What may not be listed

Listings are removed, and accounts may be suspended, for anything that is:

• Illegal, stolen, or offered without the right to sell it
• Deliberately misdescribed, counterfeit, or a scam
• Unrelated to buses, coaches and the enthusiast hobby
• Offensive, or promoting hatred or harassment
• Safety critical equipment presented as fit for service when it is not

Reporting a problem

Every listing has a Report this listing link. Use it if something looks wrong, misleading or unsafe, and a moderator will review it. Reports are confidential and the seller is not told who reported them. If you believe you have been the victim of fraud, please also report it to Action Fraud.
